The SMU programme leverages upon the niche areas of expertise of the faculty and distinguished visitors, such as in comparative law, conflict of laws, dispute resolution, and Islamic law and finance. Courses are taught exclusively to postgraduate students and in the characteristic SMU seminar style, providing a rich environment for exchange and discussion, and the acceleration of learning.

To cater to the quest for expertise in niche areas, three specialisations are available in the inaugural year: the LLM in Commercial Law, LLM in Dispute Resolution and LLM in Islamic Law & Finance.
